The Story of Juan Dela Cruz

09/01/2018

Once there was a man named Juan Dela Cruz. He lived in a simple ordinary house with his family. He had a rich friend named Sam who lived in a bigger house with the latest modern state of the art appliances and luxurious conveniences. Sam’s family invested on split-type airconditioning, a dishwasher, a garbage disposal unit under the kitchen sink, a water heater, bidet hose, bath tub and carpeted flooring. Juan always looked up to Sam and adopted his ways as much as he can. Juan would often visit Sam’s home. Juan’s real intention was to one day be adopted by Sam’s family and live in their house.

One day, the flush broke down on the toilet on Juan’s house. At the same time, the light bulbs weren’t replaced so the lights weren’t working. Juan had enough it. He left his mom, dad and siblings just to be adopted by Sam’s family. He knocked on Sam’s house’s doorstep and begged Sam’s parents to let him in. He was then allowed to live with them in exchange for scrubbing the floor and doing other chores that no one in Sam’s house wanted to do. He was given a lesser lunch money than Sam when they attended school. Either way, Juan was happier. Juan lived with Sam’s family until he was finally treated as one of the family, but he still looked different from the rest. Despite the desire of Sam’s parents to treat Juan as family, not all of Sam’s siblings wanted to do so.

[Author’s note: Alright, the story still hasn’t ended yet. The toilet could have been repaired. Juan could’ve just stayed and helped replace the lightbulbs instead.  How would you end this story?]
