I just recently followed back all the news pages here in Facebook. I then began reading the comments on various local news page articles (from Rappler, GMA News, ABS-CBN News, CNN PH and the like).
I could now understand that people's opinions are largely influenced not only by the extent of their knowledge about the subject, but by their individual life experiences, beliefs and circumstances as well.
It's just funny though that we Filipinos can't be easily categorized as leaning to being a left-wing liberal or a right-wing conservative like they do in the US. It's much more complicated than that. There are too many parties with a different set of views on certain issues. Some try to reconcile it by branding people to be a yellow or a red. It's not as simple as that. Some don't even care about anything at all.
I'm not sure if such divided people can one day make a country with first world standards. Of course, I'm also referring to myself. If we all can't support the implementation of the K12 curriculum for instance, then we'll just be a nation of helpers and laborers instead of expert professionals and innovators. Oh well, let's see where this goes.
